Hello, I'm Cris. I design brands, build websites, and often both, for people who care how their work comes across.

About

For eighteen years, Gaico was my father's sports shop in my hometown in the south of Spain, and it became my nickname. The name is just my two surnames folded together: Ga(rcía) + Co(rrero). It stuck, so I kept it.
A small business run by one person, named after a small business run by one person.

Approach

I design and I build.
That means the identity and the site it lives on are made by the same person, and nothing gets lost in the handover: the type, the grid, the colours and the code all answer to the same idea.
Every project starts with the same question: "what does this brand actually stand for?" and everything after that is in service of the answer.

Location

Based on the windy Strait of Gibraltar, in the south of Spain.
I work remotely with clients anywhere.

Services
  • Brand identity

There's no identity yet, or there's one that no longer fits. Together we shape the logo, the colours and the typography around what the brand is for, so what you end up with is something you recognise rather than something you've been handed.

  • Web design

The identity exists; the site doesn't. I design it: layout, type, motion, every state and every breakpoint. Aesthetics come first, but never at the cost of how it works, usability and accessibility included.

  • Web development

The design exists; the build doesn't. I take it from Figma to something live and maintainable. And if something in the design doesn't work, I'll tell you honestly rather than build it anyway, so we can sort it out together.
